The Francophone Studies Center, established in January 2018, aims to meet the major strategic needs of the country in terms of international aairs, based on the unique advantages of Tongji University. The Center has a solid research foundation and a stable research team. All the full-time team members have Ph.D. degrees in French Language and Literature.
The Center for Francophone Studies takes “belief, mission, pattern, innovation” as its research purpose, the ideal of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as its conviction, serving the nation and the community of shared future as its fundamental mission, and serving the School of Foreign Languages as its discipline construction mission. Against the backdrop of a new world order, the center will constantly innovate its research contents and methods.
Based on the integration of resources inside and outside the school, the Center strives
to establish an academic high ground for talent training, social service, Francophone studies, European studies, Sino-French relations studies, and Sino-European relations studies.
The Center has made remarkable achievements since its inception. Many of its consultancy reports, submitted every year to multiple governing levels, are approved and accepted by the central government. More than 20 articles have been published in mainstream media such as People’s Daily, Xuexi App, and Wenhui Daily. A series of quality French textbooks has been published based on the outcomes of Francophone area studies. In addition, the researchers of the Center have actively participated in dierent consultancy activities, undertaken ministry-level consultancy projects and have been interviewed by various media such as China Radio International and Shangguan News.
